Paws Staying Cozy In The Cold

Brr!

Winter is rolling in and the weather is definitely getting colder!  Even though our four-legged friends may have fur/hair, they still can be affected by the cold. During this season you should make sure your beloved pet is comfortable and stays warm. Pepper (my Toy Poodle) pretty much hates the cold. However, the funny thing, is that if there is snow (very seldom here in Texas) he does not want to come back inside because he enjoys playing in it! He is such a goofball and I love him for it. Here I will list a few simple ways in which you can provide comfort for your pet during this time.

Keep Inside
One of the most obvious ways is to keep your pet inside. Keeping them indoors, of course aside from potty breaks and walks , also allows them to dote on you more. Im sure everyone loves it when their pet is by your side and cuddling with you!

Research
Another great way to achieve your pets comfortability in the winter is to do a little bit of research on your breed. Some breeds are more prone to adjust naturally to the coldness such as Siberian Huskies and long-haired cats. Check out PetPlace for more breeds.

Pet Clothes
I am a definite advocate of pet clothes whether its for your dogcat or even guinea pig , pet stores have them all. Clothes are not only for cuteness but they also can provide the extra warmth your pet may need during this season.
Last winter, I caught a good sell at Petsmart and bought my Toy Poodle various winter outfits. Socks are a good way to protect your pets paws in different weather climates and for those whom have allergies. This is a good precaution that you can take to make sure that your pets skin is safe.

For senior dogs, such as my poodle of 13 years, sweaters and jackets are a good source for extra warmth indoors and outdoors especially for those with weaker immune systems.
