The Kissing Bug


Have you heard of the Kissing Bug? 

No, It is not a cute pink bug that goes around kissing humans and dogs.

According to Interactive Dallas News, the kissing bug is referred to Chagas Disease,  an illness caused by a tropical parasite.

This disease is not only affecting Central and South Americas, but also the United States, typically in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and more. Click Here for more details.

Symptoms:
So the question is, how do I know if I have been effected or my dog? This is a tricky question because some dogs may show symptoms such as diarrhea, swollen nodes, increased heart rate, problems with walks, while other dogs (especially older dogs) may not show any symptoms. If you do see an abnormal change in your pets behavior it is always a must to go to the vet as soon as possible!

Causes:
Pet Medical  states that it occurs when the bug bites on the skin or a mucous membrane such as the lips. Doing this, cause it to leave feces in the wound also may occur when a dog eats feces.

Diagnosis:
Write down any and every problem that you see your dog experiencing. Then go to the vet and give them a detailed report regarding your dogs conditions so they may do proper tests and treatments as needed.
