October is Adopt-A-Pet-Month and is a great way to help save a life and even improve yours as well! There are a few things to know before you go out and choose your forever furry one. Here are some of my personal tips I hope may help you with your search.
1) Financial Responsibility
First, before you even decide on adding a furry addition to your life, please make sure you are financially able and ready. Medical bills, unexpected events, food, toys, treats, all add up so quick and can be a huge financial responsibility. Just make sure you are prepared for all the expenses that come along in owning a pet.
2) Choosing The Right Kind Of Pet
Do you know if you are more of a cat, dog, hamster, or even rabbit person? Do you want a pet that is low maintenance or are you willing to take on a high maintenance animal. If you are looking more on the low maintenance side, then a hamster, guinea pig, rabbit or even a cat would be very suitable! However, if that is not the case, then a dog would be a great fit for you. Click here to take a test to find out which pet matches your personality the most!
3) Willing To Give All Your Attention And Love!
Last but not least, make sure you are ready to give your undivided attention. Lots of it! Especially to help your pet transition to their new home. It can also help lower any anxiety they may have. Pets are a great addition to our lives and can bring so much joy. We just need to be responsible and ready to give the appropriate care, time, and attention.
